1. Job titles
Bricklayers and stonemasons
Tom: “I’ve worked here for five and a half years, and Jack has worked here for two-and-a-half.”
Both: “Our normal week mainly consists of working block and stone.
"We work our levels up with line bands, so everything is set out perfectly and then bring the houses out of the ground and up to finish height.
"We add ashlar to make up the window and door openings, as well as insulating and adding weep holes to our build.”
Jack: “To be honest, it has its ups and downs – it’s easy to get grumpy with each other – but on the whole it’s pretty good and we work quite together seamlessly as a team.”
Tom: “We always have things to talk about – whilst obviously making sure our work gets done like clockwork. I’ve built up many years’ experience now, so Jack will always ask if he needs some help, which is good. Customers have commented that they see us working well together and that’s nice to know.”
Jack: “Personally, we don’t think it’s a hard sell, as they are built with care, from start to finish.
The houses are always in a good location within the Colne Valley area – thumbs up from us!”
Tom: “I want to carry on working for SB Homes and perhaps run jobs for them in the future.”
Jack: “I also want to remain at SB Homes, trying my best and seeing what the future holds for me.”
Tom: “I have two sons who I love spending time with, usually playing football! Or sometimes you’ll catch me down at the local pub.”
Jack: “I spend time with family or out with friends.”
Jack: “If I could have any house, it would definitely be exactly the same as Will Smiths. Who wouldn’t want a nine-bedroom house, with a pool, tennis court and a basketball court?!”
Tom: “Nothing too big or fancy, but I would love a nice open plan property, with land big enough to have my own 4G football pitch – the dream.”
Both: “In 10 years’ time we would like to see SB Homes carrying on just as they are at the moment – building top quality homes and looking after their workforce as good as they currently do!”
